Not sure if it’s exactly what you’re after, but Unifi gateways can install NextDNS with a script provided by NextDNS. It’s all the same lists as Pi-Hole, and possibly more intelligent ones, too. Bonus points are it makes every device in your home use encrypted DNS, as well!

I’m using it on a Dream Machine Pro, and the new Cloud Gateway Ultra.

That exploit required kernel access to begin with, which at that point, you have much bigger problems.

I have one of their’s that can connect to your phone. It’s not needed, it just adds extra cook book functions. It even hosts it so you can control the sous vide when you’re not at home, almost like a reverse proxy.

But yea the physical buttons work fine without the app.

Bazzite out the box is just absolutely bonkers how good it is. Basically just stick to flatpaks from the DE’s app store, and layering anything else with rpm-ostree.

If the game isn’t on Steam, then Lutris which also comes with Bazzite, is your best bet. It’ll have installers for other DRM/launchers that work. I’ve gotten Ubisoft Connect and Battle.net to work and install games, but no luck getting Epic to work.

Also the app that can manager wine runners/steam’s proton are great. I’d have it download the latest proton-ge for steam, and set that to be the default version for every game’s Proton version. I don’t remember its name on gnome, but on KDE Plasma it’s ‘proton-qt’

Fun fact, proton-ge which stands for Glorious Egg Roll, is from the same guy who makes Nobara.

If Nobara was on your list, check out Bazzite. It’s Nobara but bullet proof.

Check out Windows Xlite, they have 10 and 11. Their install iso’s are stripped of all Microsoft’s bullshit.

Check out Windows XLite. Its a highly customized iso that gets rid of all the bullshit. No automatic updates (they’re provided as cumulative installers), no windows defender, no edge, no cortana, no store, no Xbox, etc. Those things are all stil available, too. Also, all the telemetry is disabled from registry and gpolicy, and since no auto updates, they won’t mess with those entries to “uh oh we turned on our spying again, and didn’t tell you.”

Its a massive breath of fresh air, feels like going back to XP and 7, when your fresh install has nothing at all. Not even dot.net and vcredist, which are also available.

I DEFINITELY shared that worry, but I found it on an invite only forum that has a track record of clean isos and modded OS’es, and any uploaded files are scanned by multiple anti-malware/viruses. Plus I could see the dude FBConan had a long very active history there. He + someone else used to make Phoenix Lite, but other dude wanted to get greedy, so he ditched him and went solo. Now he just takes donations from Patreon, and makes downloading easy from his own website.

Multiple displays are always a shit show. Once a year I try out a current distro, and within a week I’m back on Windows. This time was Bazzite, and the exact same problems as always, both Plasma and Gnome, just last week. After all this time windows still don’t remember their size and position, and right click context menus randomly break and show up on the opposite monitor. Go and look up the bugs, and I can see they’ve been a problem for like 5-15 years.

If you give up on Linux for the time being, I HIGHLY recommend looking up Windows Xlite. It is a highly modified Windows 10 or 11 iso. They even have the option to install without Windows Defender, its such a breath of fresh air, almost feels like being back on XP or 7.

I’ve been rocking recyclarr now for almost a year. Was a pain in the ass to figure out the config, but very nice automate another piece off the Arr machine.

Unraid is the GOAT when it comes to being headless for docker. They know how to walk the fine line of “this is too much. It’s bloat,” and “this is minimal and bare bones.” I seriously can’t hype them enough, and can’t do justice to describing their ease of use.

Adguard home is like pihole, but has built in encrypted DNS options. For easy mode NextDNS.

They pretty much all have the same block lists to choose from.

Chenbro makes quite a few ATX shallow rack mount cases. I have one and have no complaints.

I love the look and tidiness of a nice rack mount system. So I got a Chenbro 4U case. It’s perfect for reusing my old components, and it has a standard size area on the front to install a hot swap HDD cage.

Funny that it could either Shopify or Spotify, you refer to, as both are arguably enshityifying.
