I’ll throw my -opinion- in the ring here because no one else is saying it the same way.
I did try out Firefish and enjoyed that way more as it had a fun and engaging UI and lots of extra features, but it holds the same federation and discovery issues.
Quite the opposite, it’s very very old. :)

Considering the thread title of “Meta”, the fact that Meta used to be called Facebook, and Albatross’s wording “and it’s ilk”, it should be safe to assume we are talking about Meta as a whole and not just Facebook.com.
I was worried of the same thing, but my purchase of several hundred CAD did not have any duties applied. Of course every country and even purchase can be different.
Instead of up/down buttons you would have a set of buttons such as “Agree”, “Disagree”, “Funny”, “Useful”, etcetera. The only website I know of that still uses these is Ravelry.
While it is easy to fall into this trap of disagree downvotes, they should really not be used that way. All that does is turn them into a popularity contest. Downvotes should be used on comments that do not improve the thread. This may be because they are wrong, made in bad faith, rude, or otherwise, but not simply because you disagree. Ideally we would have different buttons for this like the forums of old, but no one seems interested in that nowadays.
Instead of gonewild girls promoting their OnlyFans, maybe now they can promote their paid subreddit lol.
I’ve found them to be pretty clear usually. Half-formed words at start/end I just ignore. Either way, even on Firefox with uBlock and all the rest, audio captchas have always passed me first try even if I think I got it wrong. I don’t like posting about it in-case they tighten it up after it gets more users.
There was a short period a few years ago after the Quantum update that I would have partially agreed, because Firefox’s renderer was much smoother. But Chrome seems to have caught up, because it’s been much faster every time I test something in it in the yesrs since.
Which is invisible to users, meaning they can ignore it or handwave it with “I haven’t got anything to hide”.
I have a bad habit of jumping into programming without a solid plan which results in lots of rewrites and wasted time. Funnily enough, describing to an AI how I want the code to work forces me to lay out a basic plan and get my thoughts in order which helps me make the final product immensely easier.
This doesn’t require AI, it just gave me an excuse to do it as a solo actor. I should really do it for more problems because I can wrap my head better thinking in human readable terms rather than thinking about what programming method to use.
It’s similar, but not the same. Most Linux distros require you to download a third-party program that people’ve never heard of. Windows gives you an all-in-one program from their official website, thus it’s easy to trust. Arguably Linux’s solution is better because you can use that program for multiple purposes. That and I think the trust factor is overblown as the distro will recommend the software and it’s not hard to find people vouching for it, so if you trust the distro you may as well trust the program.
Unfortunately a lot of people think it’s to do with scraping as well. The amount of “defederate Threads so that they can’t scrape my data” posts I saw was about 50-50 with the sensible takes.

How is your experience worse if you’ll never see the hashtag?
That sounds… potentially counter to the goals of the Fediverse. If it’s its own open-source and hostable project with an easy switch for admins to provide a different algorithm then I can see how it would be a big leg up for better discovery, but if it just locks you into phoning home to loops.video then that is terrible.
I have thought for a while though that search / indexing should be a separate Fediverse service to allow even tiny instances to make use of large-scale search, but only as long as it remains open for anyone to host an indexer.
