    I disagree with tankies, social justice warriors and nazis. I would only defederate the latter.
    Tankies get banned when they inevitably excuse a holocaust and social justice warriors can only cry on the internet all day about why nobody gives them free shit just for existing and how people who have more than them are monsters.

    There, i opened the can of worms.
    Fuck Nazis, but the biggest Problem lemmy has is the first 2.
    Lemmy has no good content that isn’t “having money is genocide” and “haha this guy doesnt use Linux”
    It won’t do well but ill stand on the side and watch them.

    How much data are we talking about? I get confused. Is it 1.5TB or is it 2.5TB?
    Then, how backed up do you want to be? Think about if you REALLY need daily backups. While Raid might be cool and flashy; if you don’t need it you don’t need it and running it only creates cost.

    If you have about 2 TB of data then i would just buy 3 external HDD of 2TB size and replace them every 5 Years. Then rotate them around every time you do a backup. Can you automate your backups? Not to the point of you not having to do anything. Unless you choose to pay for 2 cloud storage providers and both offer you to save your backups in an unchangeable state.

    Do i need to?
    Reddit was great because it had everything from baking to bombmaking and itwas popoular in its own communities. Lemmy only has bombmaking and even then nobody in the bombmaking communities go to !bombmaking@lem.ee or !bombmaking@lemmee.to or !bombmaking@federationsite.websitedomainending
    They go to reddit/r/bombmaking. Because thats where the people are.

    Lemmy is supposed to be a better reddit alternative. But all we have right now is a big majority of “socialism is the best, all problems stem from capitalism” people. And while i totally agree with the sentiment, i do not want to have the 1000th discussion on why capitalism sucks.
    Especially not if the discussion is brought up everytime by capitalismhater@capitalismhate.capitalimshate who highjacks all threads to speak about why capitalism is bad.

    Edit or rather adding onto my “rant”: I do not mean that the majority is literally “socialism is the best”-people. But we have a strong and loud majority of enthusiasts for their fields that are nieches at best in ““the real world””
