That’s why I think the final iteration of the fediverse will be a mostly defederated bunch of echochamber bubbles. People don’t actually want diverse opinions. They want a diverse group of people to share their opinion so that they can feel theirs is the dominant, right one. Give it 5 years and the fediverse will be just as much walled off and divided as the rest of the internet is now.

People like to complain about the evil’s of humanity and yet always seem to act like it’s forced upon us by some outside force. Like the 1% are a different species and not just glowing examples of our worst traits cranked up to max. Like someone else is making humanity act this way. But nah, it’s just us and our nature. And until we understand and address that properly, none of our problems are going anywhere.

The point is NETWORKS ARE COMPLICATED. Users are generally dumb. The point is you don’t expect them to have the knowledge to do it right. So they’ll break something. Users with actual knowledge could yes, break things even worse.

That’s EXACTLY why they’re restricting hardware use.

If everything is set up perfectly, it should work, sure. Now how many people do you think even know the difference between WAN and LAN? You expecting the bio or art major to not make any mistakes at all? Or the business major?

For awhile I still believed there was a use for creators themselves. It’s basically the only way for an individual to sue a company for stealing their idea. Or on a Bambu, just do a longer “poop” purge and spit it out the side like they already do. A tower isn’t even necessary. It’s only needed on devices without a purge capability. If this gains any traction, I hope every news site, blog, etc sues Reddit for profiting off their material that fills the entire site. Lol. None of my smart devices will connect to anything other than a 2.5ghz connection. Only my TV will accept 5g. The range is MUCH narrower than you think. Then figure in that the top 5 or 6 companies provide hardware for 90% of peoples home installations and that pool becomes even smaller. Also, a microwave operates on the same frequency as 2.5 and was a common disconnection problem in the past.

You SHOULD doubt me, absolutely. Hold everything up to the light. A very important question to ask is “why am I being told this? Who’s interests is served by telling me this?” Examine every piece.

For example, in the article, notice how everything is “seemingly” “implied” or “appears to”. Those aren’t definitive words. Those are gossip words. No concrete claim is actually made. Just the appearance of one. The sources are just other random Twitter comments speculating.
