Wait, that’s a dumb design. On a (way) older phone I had some automation running and all that location triggering was done on the phone and only connected to my home when I was in fact near it. Google (or any role party) shouldn’t need to receive live geo location updates.

I went directly from a dot matrix (ImageWriter II ftw!) to a laser. Except for photo prints, I find it immensely practical to be able to print stuff at home.
Emoji passwords made me think of the Lotus Notes password prompt with their little images that changed as I typed (which never really made sense to me).

This would utterly kill the comfort, convenience, and speed of touch typing, would it not? Ahh, progress… Even in Minority Report they had (friggin’ sweet-looking!) keyboards alongside their fancy futuristic FAUI*.

Seems like this was done by working out passwords based on figuring out where people were looking and gesturing, rather than looking directly at the keyboard.
As a person using an uncommon keyboard layout, I reckon this would make it harder to hack my typing.
IF I could even get such a layout on wherever VR system I would theoretically be using… 😬
You know, if you want to replace Slack, look into Mattermost. It’s foss but otherwise pretty much exactly what Slack does so well.

The trouble is that, apparently, “perfect UI” can mean “let’s take all the sidebar tabs, remove their text labels and make all their icons really abstract and in the same colour. Oh, and change their order, too, while you’re at it.”
Thank you from the bottom of my muscle memory and pattern recognition. Now, give us back our old UI that was actually meaningful, or at least make it an option if you insist that your “clean look” is more important than actual usability.

On my old android phone, I have a beautiful 24 hour clock (app and widget) which is unfortunately no longer available in the play store.
Just saying, it exists if you know how to look for it. It was named, believe it or not, “24 Analog Clock Widget”.
Ah, you mean like the sync that Palm OS used to have? Yup, that was neat, and I’m still waiting for Android to pick up some of the neat features from back then.
Yes, I’ve been on Norwegian Dvorak since 2002 or so.
Biggest problem I’ve had is with keyboards and OS’es (cough 🍎) that don’t support the Insert key, because (a) I cut my teeth on the DOS editor and (b) XCV are all over the place on this layout.
I will always use a proper full size keyboard if at all possible. Those 60% and whatnot are not for me (it’s bad enough when they move the arrow keys).
Oh, and the languages insisting on ${} characters are a pain on any non US layout.

I’ve been extremely fond of “Our Groceries” for many years. It strikes a sweet spot between features and simplicity of use, and the devs are very responsive and have added several features after my suggestions. Really the only downside right now is that it can’t use the front facing camera on my wall mounted android tablet for scanning barcodes.
In my experience, neither Slack nor other apps (that all blow Teams out of the water) can do that - except Discord, which isn’t exactly a common office meeting app.
