Yeah, the people leading the “AGI will save us” are the same as super church pastors.
They don’t believe it, they just want their bank account limitless before they go into oblivion.

I really love how many of the buttons in settings either open an edge web page where Microsoft shrugs at you or just opens the control panel for you to actually get something done…

But hey when I need to turn off transparency effects cause it’s making all my taskbar icons disappear every time I swap desktops the new settings page works great. Sometimes.

Yeah I immediately thought of the funding bar for gold back in the day.

It was honestly fine. Made sense. Showed if they had made enough revenue to cover costs and let you make a personal choice beyond that.

Who do you think manufactures basically everything at this point? Even frickin food is being imported from China.

That being said I’d love for American competition, heck I’d just like the Elio I always wanted if it wasn’t for fricking Hummer. And Teslas have been built like garbage for the past couple years now.

It being manufactured in China does not make it a quality issue unless the profit seeking is maxed out. Otherwise it just makes it like everything else being made over there which is it’s own problem.

Being attached to a rich person and fed money doesn’t make you happy it just makes you wealthy enough to stabilize yourself. People raising to the needed position of lap dog often aren’t even doing it cause they find any pleasure in it but instead have failed to find pleasure in anything they want to do and now need the money to feel anything good about themselves at all.

Being at the whim of the rich is about giving up yourself to be the tool they need and accepting the misery of not being true to oneself.

What people actually need is the freedom that independent wealth allows and a willingness to accept that it might not be exactly to their dreams without dragging others down for more.

Yeah I often think of the rich as large plants given space to grow with an ecosystem the flourishes by growing around its core or in the shade of their influence.

But the pundits seem to cling to the outside barely being allowed anything but kept around because it brings pollinators that the main stalk needs but can’t attract themselves if anyone realized just how uncontrollably they have grown.

It just seems miserable right?

I think they don’t even love the money anymore since it comes with the strings. They just are scared of who they would be without it.

I do think they just end up having to say whatever is needed and required of them to say to keep getting it and they eventually clock out and just exist in their own misery and reality as needed to keep it going.

Oh absolutely.
And yet these kinds of people keep saying money won’t buy happiness when it’s literally proven that happiness does go up as you get financial freedom before topping off at an income that meets your immediate financial needs. Then you stop getting more happy.

But I think they will never be happy because what they want isn’t tied to financial means. Look at Tim Poole and his need to be cool to skateboarders or all the Fox news hosts that worked in theater or tried to be journalists elsewhere like Tucker Carlson. Heck even Trump loves musical Theater and just wants his dead dad’s love he can’t get.

Unhappy but somehow it’s the governments fault because the replacement job and money didn’t fix them.

Then you haven’t seen the movie theater ad they are showing where they ask the Genini AI to write a break up letter for them.

Anyone that does that, deserves to be alone for the rest of their days.

We created a society of antisocial people who are maximized as efficient working machines to the point of drugging the ones that are struggling with it.

Of course they want AI to do it for them and end human interactions. It’s simpler that way.

The future will be bots sending letters to bots and telling the few remaining humans left how to feel about them.

The old people saying we have lost our humanity will be absolutely right for once.

It’s really insane that they want the good press and loweree manufactured volume of a quality item… But also for it to fail and you need to buy up whenever they arbitrarily say so.

It’s horrifying. Absolutely broken fucking mindset that only works if we truly are trapped having to buy from them and I just don’t see how that can be true before someone says fuck it and competes.

It’s so grossly profit seeking I just will feel really defeated if it actually works.

Honestly I was and am, an AMD fan but if you went back a few years you would not have wanted and AMD laptop. I had one and it was truly awful.

Battery issues. Low processing power. App crashes and video playback issues. And this was on a more expensive one with a dedicated GPU…

And then Ryzen came out. You can get AMD laptops now and I mean that like they exist, but also, as they actually are nice. (Have one)

But in 2013 it was Intel or you were better off with nothing.

Usually it’s a badly designed heat sink that’s meant to cause an eventual short so that it has to be replaced. Or just shoddy low material builds. LEDs really can last an obscene amount of time and they don’t die another part does.

So, I’d say there is some slight issue with replacing all decision makers with AI cause Walmart and Amazon does it for employee efficiency. It means the staff are micro managed and treated like machines the same way the computer is.

Walmart employees are moved around the floor like roombas to never interact with each other and no real availability for customers to get someone. Warehouse workers are overworked by bullshit ideas of efficiency.

Now I get that it could be fixed by having the AI systems designed to be more empathetic but who is choosing how they are programmed? The board still?

We just need good bosses who still interact with their employees on their level. We don’t need AI “replacing” anyone pretty much anywhere, but can be used as a helpful tool.

trying to build a community

I honestly think that’s the big part there. You can build a great app but it doesn’t matter if no one is using it and you don’t get feed back or it’s not shared around.

So, here we are trying to use the newest virtual 3rd space to create a community so that there is people will feel engaged in the product and share it around to add more.

But that’s also an issue with discord. It wants to be a social space more than a useful space and it usually gets entirely dominated by a few users with others less inclined to add in. It’s also accessible but not easy necessarily to stumble into if you are outside of the community trying to look into it more.

It just does the wrong job, slower and less efficient than old school forums or wikis, but it’s the tools we have to use in this less efficient connected Internet of the now.
