i WISH i had this problem; it’s so difficult to find the porn i used to get from reddit and ALL of porn instances i found were either straight or dildo/ass/dick pics.

anecdotally; the lack of content and relatively steep learning fediverse learning curve compared to reddit both make it easy enough to understand why lemmy & the fediverse haven’t reached into the millions of users yet.

i’m a reddit refugee and i’ve handcuffed my ability to participate in reddit because i’m still angry about the api changes. i also work in technical, but i still struggle to understand all of lemmy’s (and the fediverse’s) quirks. both result me me still spending more time on reddit as an unregistered lurker than with lemmy as a member who can participate.

googling it only provides slightly more information on bannon’s work history and has zero mention of any attempts to cater to incels; is there something in particular linking incels to that feedback loop?

i never saw the “you’ll probably like…” messages; but i saw them in others’ screenshots and it made me wonder why reddit’s algorithm(s) didn’t show it to me; i suspect it was because 99% of my subs were porn adjacent and they didn’t want to advertise that.

i find myself missing 99% of what i used to get out of social media and i’m forcing myself to see that as a good thing so that i can find more productive uses of my time; it’s crazy to learn that all of the content i’m addicted to is completely dominated by reddit and doesn’t exist anywhere else in the entirety of the world wide web.
