Regarding the topic at hand: I don’t care what these companies say at this point. The fact is that in the past, I have used their services, clicked the “free” button, did some things, and then ended up having to pay them money.
Until the day comes that I get a letter in the mail from the government saying, “Here’s how much you paid in taxes, if you’re cool with that then please disregard”, I will not be satisfied.
I guess cuz it sounds enough like the much more common saying “as the crow flies”.
I have also never heard it used to describe direction, only distance.
I hate to post because I have loved and trusted Wikipedia for years, but the fact that there are folks out there who equally trust what AI tools generate just baffles me.

To me, this says that your workplace has acknowledged and accepted that the way they do business is leading to burnout, at least for some people. But rather than using that as evidence that their business practices need to change, they’ve instead opted to individualize the problem. Our growth projections aren’t unreasonably ambitious, you just need to do more deep breathing.
It’s like how I’m told to take a vacation to relax, only to return to the same (or an even larger) pile of to-dos that I left behind.

Imagine the incentives tho. It’s free real estate, but how would they sell it to advertisers? “Here’s some ad space, but we work really hard to make sure users see it as rarely as possible.”
But if they do manage to sell it, the dev team then has this wacky incentive to trigger BSODs often enough to hit revenue targets, but rarely enough that they don’t drive away their user base. As another commenter put it, cynical and absurd, but… I mean, there’s a universe where it could happen… hopefully it’s not this one.
That’s why programmers have all those monitors. They’re each hooked up to a different computer.
Do you suppose folks on the moon will shift the clocks by an hour twice a year as well? I don’t like the idea of moon kids having to walk to school in the dark during the winter.
But for real tho, maybe there are some tiny time dilation effects that require a separate time system for lunar missions. But I’m not sure, I’m not a physicist.

What about the 19th century tycoons who paid to manufacture their own veneration through philanthropy fueled by the wealth they unjustly amassed?
How much of this is due to the subjects of the posts? If news articles are pretty similar week to week, I’d expect the discussion around them to be similar too. That shifts the onus on users to stop posting and upvoting same-ey content all the time, or moderators to take more of it down.
