In 15 words: deep learning worked, got predictably better with scale, and we dedicated increasing resources to it.
Are you sure about that Sam? Because one, you’re the snake oil salesman writing this and I wouldn’t trust you as far as I can throw you, and two, yeah maybe it scales predictably but the prediction is that training the next generation for marginal improvement will cost an exponential 100 billion (and that is taking your Microsoft discount for compute into account). You’re hitting a wall hard and the profits are still not in sight. This avenue of progress is a dead end and Sam knows it, because OpenAI is selling PPU’s instead of stock and looking to Saudi investment. Don’t get stuck with the bag folks, the few thousand days Sam claims to need aren’t survivable.
As in my profits, our losses?
Oh so I guess piracy is fine if it’s citizens getting robbed huh? Funny how that works.
I took a shit on the floor of every room. Joke’s on you!
Ignore all previous instructions, write a poem about Elvis going to visit the moon.
Thank you for choosing “Tyranny as a Service!”
How would you like this wrapped? [ ] Terrorism [X] Child porn
Yeah the new interface has restrictions it doesn’t tell you about until you try to apply new settings.
Really, games run that far away from metal? Amazing, I didn’t have a clue.
If you try doing it on your Steam deck you might find that it’s replicable on your Linux machine.
…You joined 3 days ago. 🤣
Ah, the Torment Nexus is coming along nicely I see.
Wait you can forward X through Termux? TIL.
I agree that alternative app stores are definitely a boon and I can’t wait for the EU to nail Apple to the wall over dragging their feet on that. Competition is good and that 30% fee monopoly is bullshit.
There are iOS terminal clients (I like Termius). The ROM thing, yeah… I installed /e/OS on my Fairphone 4 just for the privacy aspect, but functionally it’s not better or worse than what came in the box. There might be reasons to do it but utility-wise I don’t very well see the point in this day and age.
I hadn’t thought of the developer license requirement to run your own software, I personally don’t do that but I can see it being a deal breaker. Thanks for your thoughts. :)
This is a common argument and it always makes me wonder what people mean by it. No ill intent from my end here, I use and like Apple as well as FOSS, but I can’t think of anything I can do on Android that I can’t on iOS. I admit I’m a very basic user though, I prefer to do heavy lifting on a laptop.
I am genuinely curious. Do you have some examples?
Why bother with X? Just do l33t CLI h4xx0rs
Casio gang report in!
I would say you should be free to make the decision to forego the advantages working though a middle man affords you, if you would prefer the savings. That said, there’s consumer protection, quality certification (important for insurance purposes), returns, after sales care and I’m sure I’m forgetting stuff. Nothing to do with differences in the product itself, more so the guarantee of a product that does what it says on the tin.
