  • Selling AI as a solution for everything is absolutely a lie. Modern snake oil in nearly all the public facing uses.

There are a lot of good uses for AI in science and entertainment as a way to enhance work being done by humans. Pattern recognition for lidsr in finding kist civilizations. Finding exoplanets. Finding new compoubds for medicine and manufacturing.

Hell, there is even some usage for some personal things and LLMs are great at addressing certain people’s hesitation when interacting with computers. But like the prior examples, it can’t solve anything on its own. It must be controlled and thigs like search engines and processing job applications are terrible uses for AI when humans are having trouble doing that thing already.

AI only works for technical work that requires precision when it is doing something humans were already good at. It can do a lot of those things faster, but has to be babysat if the output matters.

  • That out of the way, FSD sucks, and it’s getting worse, not better. When if first come out of beta it was okay. I remember describing it as driving with a teenager, they got the general idea, but would make bad decisions so you had to watch them. Years of updates later and it’s practically unusable to me. It tries to go way under or over the speed limit, it hesitates or slams on the brakes for green lights. It slams on the brakes for cars that pull out with plenty of gap but doesn’t even notice the risky merges. It can not seem to navigate intersections anymore, damn near stopping in the middle of a turn. It actually just updated yesterday and I tried it again, it took me less than 5 miles to disable it again. It is, in my opinion, a hazard to use. I talked to my partner about it and we both agree it didn’t used to be this bad.

Sounds like it still drives like a teenager!

Which of course is terrible since it should be improving over time.

  • That would require parties to follow through on their platforms to work.

For example, Republicans say they value life but do the opposite by forcing women to die because they can’t access medical care for unviable pregnancies. They say they want border reform but vote against bills that would fund the courts that process immigrants. They say they willl lower taxes for the common person, but lower it for the top 1% and raise them for everyone else.

Platforms are great and all if they meant anything.
