Aptera claims to be able to get 40 miles a day via solar. Most people drive less than that per day.

You should actually watch their videos and do some research before spewing your speculations. Seems like it’s going to be pretty safe to me.
Their tech isn’t just the solar, they’ve optimized the car solely for efficiency. They claim their car can get 10 mi/kwh, so with 700W of solar panels they can get up to 40 miles of charge per day with just the solar. By contrast, the solar panels that are available on the new Prius get 4 miles of charge per day.
Now that their production-intent vehicles are just starting to be built up, I’m eagerly awaiting their actual test data that hopefully verifies their claims on efficiency, range, crash safety, etc. but we’ll see 🤞 I really hope they succeed.
Lots of people here criticizing Aptera who clearly haven’t researched the company or the tech.
Holy shit that’s a real thing
Please don’t insult the rats, they’re good little critters
Is the Patagonia guy a billionaire? He seems like a good dude.

Yeah, could be nice. You should check out Aptera, it’s kinda sorta almost the same thing. Up to 40 miles of charge per day from solar.
Wireless charging is very inefficient, I don’t see that happening unless some new tech gets invented.
Really interesting design decision. Was the main battery also dead? I’m guessing not. There’s a step-down converter under the rear seat that outputs 12-16 volts, Tesla could probably have fairly easily set the car up to power the doors from that when the auxiliary 12V battery dies.
Meat’s back on the menu, boys!
I don’t understand, they’re almost the same thing.
I have an app for my fucking toothbrush. Not everything needs an app.
After the last windows update WSL gives me a BSoD every time 😭 Pretty sure IT wouldn’t appreciate me running Ubuntu off a USB drive but that’s a good idea.
I hate coding on Windows, maybe I’ll check that out. (My only option is Windows for my work laptop because I need to use a few Windows-only softwares and IT says I’m not allowed to dual boot)
I like your optimism but I think he was just the test run.
